If you’re new to this whole social media thing, and we know some of you are, you may be wondering what all this RSS stuff is about.  We’ve heard from a couple of newsletter subscribers asking about this RSS stuff, and we figure we should help to clarify for anyone else who may be wondering.

What is RSS?

RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication. When you’re interested in a topic - you know, like bluedango - you can quickly get your information, news, and other great stuff without having to wait or weed through a bunch of web pages.

Need More?

We know you’ve heard it’s what all the cool kids are doing these days, but you may still be wondering what happens exactly.

Well, when you sign up for RSS (it’s that round, orange button at the top of the page) then, anytime we post an update here, you get notification in your feeder (don’t worry, we’ll explain)…but the jist of it is that once you pick your feeder and add bluedango, then anytime we make an update here on our blog, you don’t have to come find it, you’ll get it right away.  So, rather than you having to take time to come here, our updates will come to you - as a headline.

Pretty neat stuff. Oh, you think so, too?  Well, we thought you would…Ok, so it sounds like you’re ready to give it a go now.

How do I do it?

1.  Just click on the little orange button that looks like this (either here or at the top of the page):

2.  After you click the button, you’ll see the following:

  • A basic explanation about how FeedBurner makes it easy to receive content updates in My Yahoo!, Newsgator, Bloglines, and other news readers,
  • An option to learn more about syndication and Feedburner,
  • Options for selecting your web based news reader (you can get your feed through Google, Yahoo, AOL, and more…), and
  • an option to get your bluedango News via email.

3.  Then, you simply make your selection for either:

  • a web based news reader (you can get your feed through Google, Yahoo, AOL, and more…), or
  • select to receive your updates via email.

And, that’s all it takes.  Who knew being the cool kid could be so easy?
