Anyhow, back to my trip to the vet….

So, I was thinking about walking, which got me to thinking about shoes.  You know, as a dog, I don’t wear them.  And, even though there are tons of them around my house, I’ve never been a chewer…well, there was that one time, but that’s a story for another day because today I’m beating the tom-tom drum.  That’s right, because I figure even if I don’t wear shoes, if I did, I’d want some cool shoes.  And, shoes that support a cause are even cooler.  I’d want TOMS Shoes.

Using the purchasing power of individuals to benefit the greater good is what TOMS is all about and I think that’s right in line with my job here at bluedango.   I’m thinking I need a pair of those Tiny TOMS.  A tiny dog in Tiny TOMS - that could add to my ‘cute’ factor and earn me more points in the Cutest Dog Competition.  Whaddya think?  I’m thinking plaid…maybe something to match my neckerchief…

Someone did see something in her, even though she was another little dog in a kennel and not necessarily considered show quality.  They were right.  Talk about being able to capture an audience.

If there’s one thing I do know, that would be what it’s like to be a quirky little dog (who’s not necessarily be considered show quality), who was simply found and loved…my sympathies to Gidget’s family.

Well, that got me to thinking about talking MP-3 players, and then I had this great idea…actually, that’s all just too much to get into right now because, today we’re going back in time.  Sorry.  We’ll come back that another day.  Today, I’ve gotta tell you about my newest funky find.  And, to do that, we have to go back in time.  Back to vinyl records.  You may remember them, or actually you may not.  In dog years, I wouldn’t either…but in people years, well…again, all of that is a story for another day.  Right now, it’s back to vinyl.

See, there are these bowls made from vinyl records.  Recycled record bowls?  That’s right.  These recycled record bowls are made from 12″ vintage vinyl records, the original label is intact and protected with a seal.  Call it recycling, or upcycling…I would actually call it a touch of retro deco.  A funky Quinton find.  So, go check out Jeff Davis’  recycled record bowls at Modern Artists.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention.  You can even pick from Jazz, Rock, Country…pretty much whatever groove you like.  What a great gift for music lovers!  You really can’t beat that with a stick (or, I might have said a set of drumsticks)…

That’s right…it’s a different kind of green bean.  And, you can even upgrade to a ’superfill’…I love upgrades.  The beads, before they’re puffed, are made from recycled plastics.  And, you can get more comfy-ness that includes the new foam from scrap furniture cushion cut-outs that would have ended wastefully and clogged up yet another landfill.

How’d we meet?

Through Adopt-a-Pet.com’s new “PETworking” campaign.  Here’s the deal.  All of us on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc. can use our skills to advertise adoptable pets to our social networks.  Get it?  Networking…petworking…brilliant!  It helps get them out there and into loving homes.  The goal for June:  to help at least 30,000 homeless pets in the first 30 days.

Pretty cool cause for a dog on a blog.  I couldn’t pass it up, and you can’t either.

Here’s how it works and what you need to do:

• You visit the Adopt-a-Pet.com website and search for an animal (dogs, rabbits, and yes…cats…pretty much any animal you can think of) in your local shelter.
• Pick the pet(s) you want to help.
• Use the “share” tool on the page to add his/her photo and information to your MySpace page, Facebook profile or Twitter feed.  Or, you can email their info to all of your friends and family to encourage them to get involved, too.

You know they say great things come in small packages?  Well, we’ve added a small 4 1/2 lb. package to our site–and his name is Quinton.

Here’s the scoop.  Quinton’s Corner will feature some funky finds, quick tips, and maybe even a few quirky thoughts.  After all, he is a dog on a blog, so we’ll all just have to see where it goes.

Prior to becoming a blogger, Quinton was just a funny little lap dog. But, now he’s a funny little dog with something to say. After all, it only makes sense that a dog could add value to a blog.  Think about it…dogs are home most of the day, generally by themselves, and more often than not, they have some time to spare.  You know, in between meals and naps and such.  Makes absolute sense to us.

So, won’t you join us in welcoming the first dog on our blog?  And, remember to be on the lookout for more additions in Quinton’s Corner.

It’s my first funky find, and I just couldn’t pass it up.  Now, with the vintage thing, you’ve probably seen one before, but remember…I’m a dog.  So, can you really expect me to not be excited?  How could I not want one?  You know you do, too.  And, they even come in a litter of cool colors.
